The raw part, at the end of the printing process
A unique functional prototype thanks to 3D printing
With large format 3D printing we can create complex shapes and geometries, allowing the creation of many functional prototypes quickly and cheaply compared to traditional manufacturing methods. Here we look at the automotive industry with the example of a 1.10m high exhaust manifold.
A 3D prototype with various levels of finish
This manifold, printed on a Builder 2000 3D printer, required 8.5Kg of material and 60 hours of printing, then went through sanding and priming for all the pipes, and a chrome colour paint job for 2 pipes, making it possible to obtain 3 levels of finish on the same part, raw at the base, primed at the back and painted at the front of the part.
A 3D prototype, worked to be realistic
This 1:1 scale prototype allows us to check all the values of the final product, whether it is the shapes, the dimensions, the assembly and the play between the elements, the colour and the visual impact of the piece. The prototype is intended to be as realistic as possible so that you can carry out all the necessary tests.
